Lemons

Why is it that when you eat a raw lemon it tastes so horribly sour and unbearable but then there are so many recipes that just could not do without it. Be it sweet or savory or even alcoholic it just works perfectly in so many ways. Take any kind of lemon flavour desert, lemon drissle cake, lemon tart, lemon cheesecake.. basically if it has lemon in it I will always order it, even over any chocolate based desert and that really says something! On the savory side how about lemon and coriander? A twosome suited to so many dishes. Or lemon and couscous, lemon with fish, lemon roasted chicken? Or on a completely different note, Ice and a slice? A Gin & Tonic is just not the same without a slice of lemon. Basically the lemon is great.. i think i need a lemon tree!
Inspired by a true Gin and Tonic drinker, why not spend 10 minutes cutting a couple of lemons into slices and putting in a container in the freezer. That way you will always have a ’slice’ ready for that perfect G and T, and it even acts as an ice cube if you run out of ice.. brilliant!
